  I was watching some movie on Netflicks where the good guys were running around with guns.  Fine.  But every time they suspected something would start to happen, they would manually cycle their weapons.  Now, there are three reasons to manually cycle a weapon. First is to load a round into the chamber, the second is to clear a malfunction (i.e. the damn bullet got stuck where it shouldn't be), and third is to clear the weapon after you're removed the magazine, in which case a round would be ejected and the operator would check the chamber, then return the bolt or slide home.  But in this movie, every other scene the good guys were cycling

I occasionally run across photographers who insist that their work be 'as is', and scorn editing an image. To them, I say Poo!  Just by choosing when to click the shutter, you are being selective of the scene around you.  In the old days, you had to go into the darkroom and print your photographs on actual paper! In doing so, you had to decide on exposure and contrast (By using different grades of paper) So right off the bat you were again being selective about the image.   With todays technology, you can let the camera make all your decisions for you.  But that is, with out thinking about it, making choices about the image.
